A Message from the Secretary - March 2005

Hello to all Elmwood Members. It has been a very busy year for Elmwood and I cannot believe a new Spring Season is almost upon us! There has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes keeping the club open over the winter and hosting several social events.

The 70's Theme New Years Eve Party was a great success with many members pulling together to organise the whole event. The extraordinary mild weather enabled us to take advantage of the new deck which was built over the festive season. Thanks to Roy, Bob, Barry , Michael and Mindy who gave up their time to build the deck. Thanks to local businessman Paul from Battleskips for free skip hire.

The new shale for the courts will be in place for the new season and we are still trying to raise funds to replace the hard courts. The Membership fees raise the most money for the club. To encourage more playing members we are once again holding the membership fees for all playing categories.

The subsidised bar has been open all winter and has proven to be very popular. This does incur extra costs, heating lighting etc and as all members have the benefit of this facility as well as being able to hire the club for parties etc the social membership is still very good value and a great way to support the club.

The AGM was held in November and the new committee members are listed below. It is great to see all positions filled and the enthusiasm for the club is heartening.

We also have an exciting new web site. Here you will find details of events as they are confirmed and also details of the team fixtures. All ideas welcome for the web site. Thanks to member Michael Speechley for building this site on our behalf.

I would also like to ask all members to take the time to fill in the new membership form as a starting point for a new member database. Please send back renewal forms as quickly as you can!
